Martin Donlin is an architectural glass artist, based in the UK. He utilizes complex but striking graphics in the luminous effect provided by firing vitreous enamels to thick float glass during the tempering process. These effects are achieved with silkscreening, airbrush and hand brushing. He also makes good use of acid etched blown glass, both in leaded panels, and laminated to tempered glass.

Donlin is a very effective public artist. The imagery and text he uses in his work typically relate to the location and physical characteristics of the site, its historical heritage and meaning, and its identity.

The Empire Theatre Liverpool - 20' x 48'. This daring theatre entrance is set between two existing buildings and constructed of tempered glass assembled with an independent frame system. The art work is accomplished with the silkscreening and hand brushing of vitreous enamels and etching.
The main concept for the design has been inspired by torn fragments of theatre tickets.

At the bottom of the design a large area of sandblasted glass exists to accommodate text, this includes a brief history of The Theatre, a list of Donors and a selection of some of the famous performers that appeared at the Empire Theatre in the past.

Linthorpe Road Middlesbrough - 30' x 22'. This free standing canopy was the result of a national competition to design a meeting place for local people in the heart of Middlesbrough. The tempered glass panels are suspended on steel cables and contain a large image of Vulcan, god of fire and forge, as a reference to the industrial heritage of this steel town. Note the old aerial photographs of the neighborhood which were enlarged and screened in selected areas.

South Hill Park Arts Centre Bracknell - 5' x 28'. Hand blown flashed glass, acid etched and laminated to tempered laminated safety glass. The glass skylight is in the ceramics and print studio of the art center. The design is based upon an abstracted image of a seed. The seed has been used as a metaphor for the beginning of an idea.

Tib Street Bridge Link Manchester 55 ' x 8' - A landmark feature in the Northern Quarter made of enameled tempered glass, this glass bridge washes light and color across the street at night.
