Pepon Osorio is a Philadelphia based artist, best known for large-scale installations. Osorio’s pieces, influenced by his experience as a social worker in The Bronx, usually evolve from an interaction with the neighborhoods and people among which he is working.

'I Have a Story to Tell You'
Congreso Building Philadelphia, PA, 2003. The Fairmount Park Art Association commissioned Pepon Osorio to transform the Congreso building and courtyard in Philadelphia into a community photo album. He gathered photographs from personal collections in the neighborhood. These photographs were digitally manipulated and enlarged to produce silkscreens. Using vivitreous enamels, each image was screened once on two sheets of 1/4" float glass which were then fired, tempered, an laminated together.

Two windows were installed in the main building, and a small glass house was completely glazed with this art glass in the courtyard. The experience within the casita is stunning. The large hug image on the third floor is carefully shaded to allow the viewer to look through the hug and see the neighborhood beyond.
